BOM data is typically a list of components and their properties. It's main purpose is to specify the components for purchasing. As a minimum, BOM data should include the designator, manufacturer name, and part number for each component on the PCB. Macaos can import BOM data from a spreadsheet file or a text file. In both cases, the data should be complete, well structured, and unambiguous.
- Generate a BOM file. See our guidelines for file format and content.
- Interpret the BOM file with our Import BOM module.
- Load the BOM data into the product, by choosing OK in the Import BOM module.
- If the BOM contains components not already defined in the product, these must be moved to their correct location.
