The quotation module is used to get online price quotations for a selected product.
Product prices depend not only on the technical specifications and characteristics of the product, but also on how many items you want and how soon you want them. To help you decide how many and how soon, you can view a matrix of prices for the selected product based on quantity and days.
Getting a price quotation
- Check off one or more quantities and one or more lead times to specify the matrix column and row headers. You may select up to 8 quantities and up to 6 lead times.
Note: Lead time is factory working days, and does not include weekends, holidays, or transport time.
If the product is a panel, choose whether the quantity is per board or per panel.
To select a quantity/days value other than those shown, click on one of the Click texts and enter the desired quantity/days.
Note: Lead times of 20 days or more are calculated as weeks rather than days. - For PCB and PCBA products, there is a row of order options (at the bottom of the module). Set (or remove) a check mark by any of these options, as desired. These options will usually result in a higher price for the order. See below for more info about order options.
Note: Default settings for some of these options may be set in program options. - Click on the Get Price button. The requested prices will be calculated and displayed in the matrix.
You can view prices in the matrix as total price, item price, or price/dm² by selecting the appropriate radio button (at the bottom of the matrix). If the product is a panel of several boards, then you can also view price per panel in the matrix.
The quotation number and validity is shown at the right of the Add selection to shopping cart button. - Click on a price in the matrix to select it, and display the price breakdown and shipment information (at right of the matrix).
- If you are satisfied with the selected quantity/lead time/price combination, click on the Add selection to shopping cart button.
If no prices are available, click on the Send RFQ button to generate a Request for Quotation. Online price lists cover the most common production scenarios, but in some cases the manufacturer must view all product specifications before giving a price.
Click on the View as PDF button to view a printable version of the quotation.
Price breakdown
The price breakdown is shown in the column at the right of the matrix. It consists of:
- a factory indicator
- production price
- any additional setup or tooling charges
- total price
- unit price
- price per panel (if appropriate
- currency of all prices
If a price is not available, then a list is shown of reasons why the various system price lists did not return a price. These reasons are typically due to one or more product, quantity or lead time parameters not being valid for that price list.
Shipment information
Shipment information is shown in the column at the far right. It consists of:
- total board area (for PCBs)
- estimated total weight
- expected shipment from factory
- expected transport time
- supplier holidays within the lead time (if any)
- delivery terms for price
- additional remarks
Note that the shipment date is the date the order is to be shipped from the fabricator (not necessarily the date the shipment will arrive at its destination).
Order options
The following order options may be selected when getting a price or generating an RFQ. These options only apply to PCB or PCBA products.
Perf. class: IPC, in the IPC-601x standards, has defined performance classes as a simple method of specifying tolerances and other quality requirements when manufacturing a PCB or PCBA. The standard performance class is class 2, which is suitable for most applications. Class 3 is a high-reliability class with very tight requirements and an extensive test and inspection regime intended for extremely demanding applications. Due to the very high cost of class 3 production, Macaos has defined a class 2+ which adds two specific class 3 requirements (hole plating thickness and annular ring) to class 2. Class 2+ provides higher reliability than class 2 with only a moderate cost increase.
UL-certified fabricator: If checked, then only fabricators which have UL-certification for the specified PCB buildup will be considered for prices and fabrication.
Impedance control: If checked, then this product will require impedance control during manufacture. Impedance control is an added cost option.
No X-out in panel: If checked, then all boards within a panel must pass quality control for the panel to be acceptable. This option will usually result in a moderate price increase. (This option does not apply to PCBA products or single PCB products.)
No manuf. marks: If checked, then the manufacturer shall not add any identifying marks to the board. This option should not be selected if the board requires UL marks.
No shaving: If checked, then the manufacturer shall not retract copper from board edges or cutouts. Selecting this option implies that copper burrs along edges will be accepted. This option should only be checked in cases where it is necessary that copper extend to the board edges. (This option does not apply to PCBA products.)
IPC-1602 pkg: If checked, all boards must be packaged in accordance with IPC-1602. This is an added cost option.
Qty per pkg: If it is desired that boards be vacuum packed with a specific quantity per package, the specify that quantity. Specify zero to let the fabricator package as best they see fit.
