Two-factor authentication increases your account security by requiring a one-time password from an authenticator app after having successfully entered your login name and password. Any app which generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) and accepts an otpauth:// style URI for setup may be used. Common apps include Aegis Authenticator, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
Two-factor authorization is optional. However, we strongly recommend enabling two-factor authorization if you use our web browser application at pcbzip.com to access your account.
The two-factor authentication manager is used to either enable or disable two-factor authentication.
As a first step, the manager reports the current two-factor authentication manager status, and asks if you wish to continue with either enabling or disabling the feature.
Enabling two-factor authentication
If you choose to enable two-factor authorization, you will first be asked to enter your password.
Then the manager displays a QR code and a "secret" text string. Scan the QR code with your app or enter the secret. Once configured, the app will provide a six digit code which must be entered into the manager. This completes the link between your account and the authenticator app.
Once linked, a list of ten recovery codes is displayed. You should save these codes in a secure manner, as this is the only time they will be shown. These codes may be used as alternate one-time passwords, if you unable to get a six digit code from your authenticator app. Each access code may be used only once.
Checking your recovery code status
Once two-factor authorization is enabled, the manager reports the number of remaining recovery codes when reporting that two-factor authorization is enabled. Answer No, so that two-factor authorization is not disabled.
Disabling two-factor authentication
Answer Yes to disable two factor authentication. You must enter your password together with a six digit code from your authenticator app to disable.
