In principle, a BOM file should be structured with one row per component. Unfortunately, some BOM generators don't do this. The Rearrange Cells functionality is an effort to circumvent this problem. For known BOM generator formats, rearranging cells should make it possible to import files which don't follow the one-row convention.
Supported formats:
MyWorkshop
The MyWorkshop format generates a file with five columns: Designator, Quantity, Description, MPN and Manufacturer. Each component row may be followed by additional rows where the first three columns are empty (and the cells are possibly merged with the component row cell).
Cells are rearranged by moving the contents of the MPN/Manufacturer cells in the additional rows to additional columns in the component row. This results in a one row per component structure, with multiple alternate MPN/Manufacturer column pairs.
If your BOM generator is not supported, you can send a few sample files to support@macaos.com, and we will try to include support in a future release.
